If you don't care about the new Pencil Pro then any of the M1 models would still be fantastic! That's what I currently have and I find it works great!

Yeah - I was so disappointment when I saw how much the new Sanzen paper was bleeding! I noticed while I was recording so that moment was when the disappointment first set in 😔 At least it just provides an opportunity to explore new papers now 😃

There are lots of great papers out there - a few of my favorites are Canson XL Marker paper (great for practice), watercolor papers, and bristol 👍

Glad this was helpful and I understand the challenges with inks sometimes - it can be worth looking into lightfast inks and other protections that can help with the inks fading due to sunlight 😃

I'm so happy that you found the Sanzen paper usable for the nibs workable for those nibs (especially with them being broad and up 1.5mm stub!). I was really sad when the original TRP went away as it was my favorite too. And thanks for sharing the Nanami update - that's where I used to get my notebooks from and the last time I looked they only had the new paper or Sanzen so it's super interesting that they still have or found some of the Original paper (you're right, though - they're definitely charging a premium for them!). This really is where I wish they found a way to make the new one compatible with previous devices, then you could just get a new Pencil Pro and get the advantages and "find my" compatibility without having to get a whole new iPad. I totally understand where you're coming from and how going from the 11" M2 Pro to 11" M2 Air would feel like a downgrade, but those M4 Pros are also super expensive... I'm really happy that this approach was helpful and can't thank you enough for your kind feedback! 😃

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts - it's possible that the Sanzen may be ok if you use it with pens with smaller nibs, but it was definitely a disappointment for me , unfortunately - as the pens I use most bleed so much on the Sanzen paper. Most others that I've chatted with generally also preferred the original paper. I honestly don't know about the other brands as I haven't used them yet myself, but, if they're using Tomoe River I would think it would be Sanzen because the others aren't in production any longer. I would definitely reach out to the seller, though, as they should be able to confirm. I'll definitely share thoughts on the other notebooks if I have an opportunity to test them 😃 Thanks again for your comment and questions 😃

That would be great as I was really surprised that the new Pencil features weren't supported at launch - especially with Procreate and Dreams being featured during the Apple event. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I totally, totally agree - the M2 Pro is an awesome device and I'm with you that it's really not worth the upgrade outside of some very specific use cases. The M2 Pros will be a bit harder to find new as they stop selling them and transition to the new models, but there should be refurbished options out there for a while. I think the M1 Pros are incredibly capable, too. The pricing on the Pro models really has become crazy!

60hz low refresh rate means a relative delay when using the pencil on the screen

I am thinking to upgrade for some reasons. First is the oled screen. I am working near a window with the iPad and it’s hard to see worth my iPad Air m1 even because my battery capacity doesn’t have energy für have 8 hours of working time. Also the sensitivity for the pencil with 5ms because quick notes are so difficult to take wenn you need so much time

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! For art and drawing I'd find it super limiting to not have pressure sensitivity, but totally respect your opinion 😃

@@BlackletterFoundry as it's digital it's just doesn't feel the same as on paper at all.

I get people have different opinions but for me, if i wanted it to be like drawing on paper, i would just draw on paper... pressure sensitivity makes inking a lot easier for me. Gives a lot more expression to my line art and also helps when coloring as you can size up or down the brush for larger or smaller areas. You can just turn off that feature if you don't like it.

If you have the previous Pro which would be the M2 generation, you have great device. The only reason to consider upgrading would be if the new Pencil Pro features are super important to you, or the OLED screen, or any of the other items they updated - but, honestly, the iPad you already have is awesome so I'd have a hard time justifying an upgrade considering the prices. Unless any of those new features are game-changers for you, enjoy the one have - it's fantastic!

I completely understand your position - I'm in the same boat, although I find that I gravitate more to my laptop. I really like what you said about them being complimentary - that's very true. I feel like there's an opportunity where they could combine them into a single device, but not they way things are now with the different operating systems. And I liked your comment that traditional writing instruments don't have the two-finger tap to undo 😂 I've done that too out of reflex at times (not to mention trying to pinch to zoom on paper 😂). Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😃 Yeah, I'm totally with you - when I saw the new features with the Pencil Pro I got pretty excited to try it for the stuff I make, but then my heart sank when they said it's not compatible with older devices! I feel like they could have found a way to make it work... It's similar to the "hover" feature that works with the M2 - I feel like that's also something that should be compatible with the M1 (the device I have) but it only works with the M2. I really appreciate it 😃 I know exactly what you mean - I bought (and still have!) the very first iPad and others over the years. When I watched the event live and saw the rotation feature, I got really excited - then my heart sank when they said it's only compatible with the new devices. They say that it's because they moved the camera which impacted the magnetic charging, but it feels like they could have engineered a way to make it work by moving the charging to a different spot along the same edge or a different edge of the device. I just shared this in my latest video that I saw your kind comment on 😃 , but I was further surprised to find out that the rotation feature isn't even supported yet in Procreate! Great question! To my knowledge, this style of lettering goes by a few names like the one you mentioned 😃 Blackletter, Gothic, Old English.
